主講人簡(jiǎn)介：
陳子亭教授，香港科學(xué)院院士，美國(guó)物理學(xué)會(huì)會(huì)士，現(xiàn)任香港科技大學(xué)協(xié)理副校長(zhǎng)（研究）、香港科技大學(xué)賽馬會(huì)高等研究院臨時(shí)院長(zhǎng)、于崇光基金理學(xué)教授暨物理系講席教授，并兼任研發(fā)事務(wù)辦公室主任。陳教授1980年畢業(yè)于香港大學(xué)，獲理學(xué)學(xué)士學(xué)位，1985年獲得美國(guó)加州大學(xué)伯克利分校物理學(xué)博士學(xué)位，隨后就職于美國(guó)能源部艾姆斯實(shí)驗(yàn)室。他于1995年加入香港科技大學(xué)，1996年當(dāng)選為美國(guó)物理學(xué)會(huì)會(huì)士，2018年成為香港物理學(xué)會(huì)會(huì)士，2021年當(dāng)選為香港科學(xué)院院士。
陳子亭教授長(zhǎng)期致力于表面物理、納米材料、超材料及光操控等領(lǐng)域的研究，取得了多項(xiàng)開(kāi)創(chuàng)性成果。他在Nature、Science、PRL等國(guó)際頂級(jí)期刊發(fā)表學(xué)術(shù)論文150余篇，總被引用次數(shù)超過(guò)6萬(wàn)次（h-index 115）。陳教授曾榮獲海外華人物理學(xué)會(huì)亞洲成就獎(jiǎng)、布里淵獎(jiǎng)?wù)?、裘槎基金?huì)高級(jí)研究成就獎(jiǎng)等多項(xiàng)國(guó)際重要獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)。他主持了多項(xiàng)國(guó)家級(jí)科研項(xiàng)目，培養(yǎng)了大批優(yōu)秀科研人才，為物理學(xué)領(lǐng)域的發(fā)展做出了突出貢獻(xiàn)。此外，陳教授曾擔(dān)任Physical Review B、Journal of Applied Physics等期刊的編委，目前任ACS Photonics副主編，進(jìn)一步推動(dòng)了國(guó)際學(xué)術(shù)交流與合作。
Brief Introduction of Professor C.T. Chan
Professor C.T. Chan, a Member of the Hong Kong Academy of Sciences and a Fellow of the American Physical Society, currently serves as the Associate Vice-President (Research) at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), the Interim Director of the HKUST Jockey Club Institute for Advanced Study (IAS), the Daniel C K Yu Professor of Science, Chair Professor of Physics, and also holds the position of Director of the Research Office. Professor Chan graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1980 and earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1985. Following this, he worked at the Ames Laboratory in the United States before joining HKUST in 1995. He was elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society in 1996, a Fellow of the Physical Society of Hong Kong in 2018, and a Member of the Hong Kong Academy of Sciences in 2021.
Professor Chan has specialized in research in surface physics, nanomaterials, metamaterials, and light manipulation, making numerous groundbreaking contributions. He has published over 150 papers in top-tier international journals such as Nature, Science, and PRL, with his work being cited more than 60,000 times (h-index 115). Professor Chan has received several prestigious international awards, including the Achievement in Asia Award from the Overseas Chinese Physics Association, the Brillouin Medal, and the Croucher Senior Research Fellowship. He has led multiple national-level projects and mentored many outstanding researchers, making significant contributions to the field of physics. Additionally, Professor Chan has served on the editorial boards of journals such as Physical Review B and Journal of Applied Physics, and currently serves as Associate Editor of ACS Photonics, further promoting international academic exchange and collaboration.
