Soroosh Sorooshian現(xiàn)任加州大學(xué)歐文分校土木與環(huán)境工程系及地球系統(tǒng)科學(xué)系杰出教授,并擔(dān)任水文氣象與遙感中心(CHRS)主任。其研究領(lǐng)域涵蓋全球水文循環(huán)與氣候系統(tǒng)的交叉學(xué)科。兼任美國(guó)國(guó)家工程院院士、國(guó)際宇航科學(xué)院院士、中國(guó)科學(xué)院外籍院士以及發(fā)展中國(guó)家科學(xué)院院士,美國(guó)地球物理學(xué)會(huì)(AGU)、美國(guó)氣象學(xué)會(huì)(AMS)、美國(guó)科學(xué)促進(jìn)會(huì)(AAAS)和國(guó)際大地測(cè)量與地球物理學(xué)聯(lián)合會(huì)(IUGG)會(huì)士。

其專(zhuān)業(yè)領(lǐng)域聚焦水文氣象學(xué)、水資源系統(tǒng)、氣候研究及遙感技術(shù)在地球科學(xué)中的應(yīng)用,尤其關(guān)注干旱與半干旱地區(qū)的水文循環(huán)及水資源問(wèn)題。
Brief Introduction of Professor Sorooshian
Soroosh Sorooshian is a Distinguished Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth System Science Departments and Director of the Center for Hydrometeorology & Remote Sensing (CHRS) at University of California Irvine. His area of expertise includes the interface of global hydrologic cycle, and climate system. He is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering (NAE), the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), Foreign Member of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS); Fellow, American Geophysical Union (AGU), Fellow, American Meteorological Society (AMS), Fellow, American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and Fellow, International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG).
Among his other honors: Hydrological Sciences Medalist, American Meteorological Society (AMS), 2021; Lifetime Achievement Award, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (SMC) Society 2018; Recipient of the 2017 Ven Te Chow Award of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE); named the 2014 Einstein Professorship by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS); the 2013 recipient of the American Geophysical Union’s (AGU) Robert E. Horton Medal; recipient of the 2010 4th Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water Resources Management & Protection; recipient of the 2005 NASA Distinguished Public Service Medal; the 2012 Eagleson lectureship, Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science (CUAHSI); honorary Professor at Beijing Normal University, China 2010; named the Walter Orr Roberts Lecturer, American Meteorological Society (AMS), 2009; recipient of AMS Robert E. Horton Memorial Lectureship, 2006; and the William Nordberg Memorial Lecture at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in 2004.
His area of expertise is Hydrometeorology, water resources systems, climate studies and application of remote sensing to earth science problems with special focus on the hydrologic cycle and water resources issues of arid and semi-arid zones.
