題目:Cell surface receptors–new insights from mass spectrometry

主講人簡(jiǎn)介:

Carol Robinson教授是英國(guó)皇家學(xué)會(huì)院士、美國(guó)國(guó)家科學(xué)院外籍院士,現(xiàn)任牛津大學(xué)化學(xué)系Dr Lee講席教授及Kavli Institute for NanoScience Discovery研究所主任。她長(zhǎng)期致力于質(zhì)譜技術(shù)的創(chuàng)新研究,特別是在非變性質(zhì)譜(native mass spectrometry)領(lǐng)域做出了奠基性貢獻(xiàn)。

Robinson教授率先開(kāi)發(fā)并應(yīng)用非變性質(zhì)譜技術(shù),系統(tǒng)研究蛋白質(zhì)復(fù)合物的動(dòng)態(tài)結(jié)構(gòu)、相互作用及調(diào)控機(jī)制。近年來(lái),她的團(tuán)隊(duì)利用該技術(shù)在膜蛋白復(fù)合物的結(jié)構(gòu)解析與內(nèi)源性功能配體發(fā)現(xiàn)方面取得了一系列開(kāi)創(chuàng)性成果,為理解脂質(zhì)與藥物分子對(duì)膜蛋白受體功能的調(diào)控機(jī)制提供了新視角。

她曾榮獲英國(guó)皇家學(xué)會(huì)Royal Medal、國(guó)際蛋白質(zhì)學(xué)會(huì)Stein & Moore Award、諾和諾德基金會(huì)Novozymes Prize以及美國(guó)化學(xué)會(huì)Field & Franklin Award等國(guó)際獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)。Robinson教授不僅是牛津大學(xué)和劍橋大學(xué)歷史上首位女性化學(xué)教授,也是英國(guó)皇家化學(xué)學(xué)會(huì)前任主席。她于2016年創(chuàng)立了以非變性質(zhì)譜為核心技術(shù)的生物技術(shù)公司OMass Therapeutics,并于2024年獲得歐洲專(zhuān)利局European Inventor Award。

Brief Introduction of Professor Dame Carol Robinson

Professor Dame Carol Robinson, fellow of the Royal Society and foreign member of the US National Academy of Sciences, holds the chair of Dr Lee’s Professor of Chemistry at the University of Oxford and the first Director of the Kavli Institute for NanoScience Discovery.

Professor Robinson has devoted her career to the innovation of mass spectrometry (MS) technologies and their applications in biomedical research. She is a pioneer of native MS and has made groundbreaking contributions to understanding the structure, dynamics, and regulation of protein complexes. Her team has recently applied native MS to analyse endogenous membrane protein assemblies and to systematically elucidate how lipids and drugs modulate their functions.

In recognition of her outstanding scientific achievements, Professor Robinson has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Royal Medal of the Royal Society, the Stein & Moore Award from the Protein Society, the Novozymes Prize from the Novo Nordisk Foundation, and the Field & Franklin Award from the American Chemical Society.

Professor Robinson is the first female chemistry professor in the history of both the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge, and a former President of the Royal Society of Chemistry. In 2016, she founded OMass Therapeutics, the first biotech company to specialize in native MS–based drug discovery, and in 2024, she was honored with the European Inventor Award by the European Patent Office.
